ND in Micro Code of Conduct

Who does our Code of Conduct apply to?

Our code of conduct applies to all members and organisers of the ND in Micro network. It also applies to everyone who interacts with our Discord server and other social media, and all participants in virtual and in-person events organised by ND in Micro, including invited participants, regardless of whether they are a member of ND in Micro or not. It also applies to anyone officially representing ND in Micro in any forum, whether they are a member of ND in Micro or not.

Our Code of Conduct

  1. Everyone should ensure that the environment (whether virtual or in-person) is safe and non-threatening for all individuals, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, or religion (or lack thereof).

  2. We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, or bullying in any form. This includes offensive verbal comments, sexual language and imagery, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing, unsolicited photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other organised events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Recognising that there may sometimes be a power imbalance, all attendees and members must not abuse their relative position of power or inappropriately take advantage of a relationship where a power imbalance exists.

  3. These policies apply in every space at the venue related to in-person events, and in all spaces and contexts related to online events, and to all participants in every role regardless of whether or not they are a member of ND in Micro.

  4. Individuals violating these rules may be removed from the in-person or online event at the discretion of the event organisers. Members violating these rules may also have their membership of ND in Micro revoked at the discretion of the ND in Micro organisers.

How to report violations of our Code of Conduct

If you are being harassed, discriminated against, or bullied, notice that someone else is being harassed, discriminated against, or bullied, or have any other concerns, please contact the organiser(s) of the event or one of the organisers of ND in Micro as soon as you feel comfortable doing so. You can find out who the organisers of ND in Micro are on our About page.

We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everyone and strive to create a culture of active bystandership. If you see someone being treated in a manner that you feel violates our Code of Conduct, please reach out to the event organiser(s) and/or the ND in Micro organisers.

While we encourage people to report violations of our Code of Conduct as soon as possible, we understand that some people may wish to report an incident after a period of reflection. In this case, the best mechanism for reporting is via our Contact Form.
